Training that unlocks the permit — not a content library
If LOTO certification is not wired into who can start a job, you are running two systems that pretend to be one.

In this note
A learning platform for industrial work has to speak the same identifiers as maintenance and field: asset class, role, site, and expiry. Completion without enforcement is theatre.
Competence is a gate, not a score
If a LOTO certificate expired on Friday, Monday’s isolation job should not start. That is not a notification in an LMS nobody opens at line start. It is a block on the work order, the permit, or the login — the same record the supervisor already uses.
- Author once, assign by role and site, expire on a date the operation can see.
- Wire completion to the permit or the job — not to a separate academy report.
- Keep the assistant inside approved material. It tutors. It does not mark someone authorised.
A content library can look complete and still leave the plant exposed. The question is not how many courses you published. It is whether an expired authorisation can still open a job.
